Supporting Trauma Services

Hero Shot Final Approved Version

This year’s Alfred Father’s Day Appeal will support the expansion of The Alfred’s trauma service.

The Alfred is home to the busiest trauma service in Australasia and has one of the largest and most advanced intensive care units in the region. The hospital is unique in the critical care services it provides, including:
• trauma, emergency and intensive care services, and hyperbaric (oxygen chamber) medicine
• heart, lung and bone marrow transplantations, including paediatric heart lung transplantations
• heart and respiratory disease treatment
• The Victorian Burns Service

The Alfred treats more than 63,000 patients each year through its Emergency and Trauma Centre – including more than 8,000 major trauma admissions per year. Over 70% of these trauma cases are men.

Servicing both metropolitan and regional Victoria, we provide exceptional care 24/7 for every patient requiring trauma care.

The Alfred is continuing to see huge patient demand for complex and acute inpatient care. This presents the ongoing challenge of creating more bed capacity. With community support, we will build The Alfred’s first, purpose-built facility dedicated to early recovery of trauma patients. This expansion will give patients the best opportunity to make a full recovery and offer their families more opportunities to be included in their loved one’s recovery process.

By donating to the Alfred Father's Day Appeal, you will be helping us save more lives.
