The Father's Day Appeal
It's no secret that men can neglect their health. They are also less likely to seek professional help for problems, particularly around their mental wellbeing.
At The Alfred we are working hard to teach men, as well as their loved ones, that this type of behaviour needs to be put under the microscope.
The annual Healthy Heroes Father's Day Appeal provides an opportunity to encourage men and their families to take responsibility for their health, and pursue a healthy change.
Supported by presenting partner Bulla Family Dairy, this year's Appeal spread the men's health message far and wide, while raising funds for The Alfred's Trauma Expansion Service.
As part of the campaign, long-time supporter 3AW broadcast live from The Alfred over the Father's Day weekend. 3AW once again assembled a stellar line-up of radio personalities interviewing some of The Alfred's leading clinician as well as a host of current and former patients. Each shared their inspiring stories and talked about the life-saving work performed at the hospital each day.
The Alfred would like to thank the many - including staff, supporters and organisations - who contribute to make this Appeal so successful.
The Healthy Heroes Father's Day Appeal once again produced its Healthy Men publication, which features health tips from Alfred clinicians. The focus of this year's booklet is on common male occupations and the associated health risks. Get your copy here.
